Our
Asphalt Plants are monitored constantly by independent agencies
for particulate, organics, opacity and carbon monoxide, and
are required to meet or exceed Ministry of Environment, Lands
and Park Regulations and GVRD Standards.
Imperial
Paving's
Asphalt Plants far exceed the most stringent emissions standards
of the GVRD.

The asphalt plants of today are designed to be compact, clean
and quiet production plants and are incorporated into local
industrial areas without compromising environment, wildlife
or marine habitat. They employ patented technology to ensure
the capture of volatile organic compounds and return them
to the process. Continuous
Emissions Monitoring (CEM)
is conducted utilizing state of the art sampling equipment.
These
systems exceed the most stringent emissions standards of the
GVRD.

Technology used to ensure Air Quality are called "Baghouses".
Baghouses
have a high efficiency exhaust fan that pulls in combustion air
for the burner of the dryer. This creates an air stream that flows
through the dryer and baghouse carrying combustion gases from the
burner plus dust and steam from the drying process. The exhaust
fan maintains a stable air flow over the operating system. A cyclone
removes the coarse fines and filter bags capture the fine particles.
The bags are cleaned automatically by precisely timed bursts of
air. The enclosed system prevents pollutant escapement to the environment.
